Are you interested in taking your climbing skills from the climbing gym to the great outdoors?
Our two day Intro to Outdoors class is designed to inform climbers of the skills needed to make their transition to outdoor climbing. This class covers rappelling, cleaning, and outdoor ethics.
Day One: Rappelling – There are times when rappelling is the only way down! Knowing how to rappel is a vital skill for anyone interested in climbing outdoors.
Day Two: Cleaning Sport Routes – What do you do when you reach the top of a climb, and all of your expensive climbing gear is attached to the wall and it is the only thing keeping you from falling to the ground? How do you retrieve it? This is referred to as “cleaning” a route, and we will cover this in week two!
Day Two: Outdoor Ethics – As climbing becomes more and more popular, crags are becoming more and more crowded. Excessive foot traffic can trample vegetation, destroy unique natural formations, disturb wildlife, pollute nature, and become a burden to other climbers and outdoor enthusiasts. This class is designed to inform climbers of how to behave at the crag to protect climbing for future generations.
Cost is $80 for the full course. At the conclusion of the course, all participants receive 25% off ONE ENTIRE purchase in the Upper Limits pro shop, so you can stock up on all the gear you will need for your next outdoor climbing trip!
*Prerequisite – Climbers must already be lead climb and belay certified at Upper Limits before signing up for Intro to Outdoors
