Approach Team
Our ULI approach team is designed for young climbers who are just beginning their climbing journey. This team is for climbers ages 6-15 who are interested in a team environment with a low-demand schedule. Team members will receive coaching for climbing technique, strength training, and building confidence on the wall. The team is centred around entry-level athletes. Rental gear is included during practice hours.

Fundamentals
The Fundamentals team is designed for climbers interested in gaining climbing experience through a structured climbing routine. Athletes will work on basic climbing fitness, knot tying and belaying, and basic climbing techniques.

Advanced Team
The advanced team is designed for climbers who have mastered the basic skills and techniques required for both rope climbing and bouldering. The advanced team is subdivided into two categories: competitive and non-competitive.
*Athletes ages 7-18
Advanced
- Meets Tuesday and Thursday at Maryland Heights OR Chesterfield 6pm-8pm
- Required to compete in the Upper Limits Local Competitions
- NOT interested in travelling to compete at championship-level events
Advanced Competitive
- Meets Monday and Wednesday at Maryland Heights 6pm-8pm
- Required to compete in the Upper Limits Local Competitions, 2nd local competition of your choice.
- Geared towards training for competition climbing.
Elite Team
The Elite Team is our select climbing team for experienced climbers who are serious about competing and taking their climbing to the next level.
- Practices are at Maryland Heights on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 6pm-8pm
- All athletes must have USA Climbing membership
- Required to compete in the Upper Limits Local Competitions, 2nd local competition of your choice, and Regionals.

Home School Program
This Team is designed with home school students in mind. It is a fun and relaxed team environment that provides opportunities to inspire confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship in your child. Climbing is both a physically and mentally demanding sport with the potential to develop problem-solving skills and perseverance.

Maryland Heights on Friday from 1-3 pm

Obligations
- Personal climbing shoes, harness, chalk bag, and belay device (Approach Team will be provided rental gear for use during practice)
- Must attend practices every week
- Lead climbers must have their own Gri Gri and rope *35-meter minimum*
- Competitive Climbers must compete in at least 2 local competitions, the regional competition, and be prepared to move on if they qualify. (Competition fees & USAC membership not included in Team ULI fees)
Grant
Recipients will pay 30% of the program fee. The grant will cover the additional 70%. One grant is awarded per session.
Grant applications for the March 2024 – August 2024 season will be accepted from February 1st -February 29th. The winner will be contacted before the start of the season. Click here to download the printable Grant application

Scholarship
The Upper Limits Youth Team Scholarship will be awarded for one St. Louis youth who seeks to enrich his or her life through the physical and mental activity provided by rock climbing and the camaraderie developed in a team environment. This is a need-based scholarship that is designated for families with a total household income less than $50,000. Priority will be given to those in need of financial assistance.
Scholarship applications for the 2024/2025 season will be accepted from July 28, – August 27. The winner will be announced before the start of the session. Click here to download the printable Scholarship application
