Chris & Pam

Owners

Chris and Pam started climbing in the early 90s when big hair and colorful lycra tights were still “in”. From the little crags of Iowa to the big walls of Yosemite, many hours were spent driving to different climbing areas across the country and around the world. They love and have tried every type of climbing: Ice climbing, Bouldering, Sport and Trad. Wanting to share their passion for rock climbing with others, Chris and Pam decided to make a living out of it through Upper Limits. “We enjoy seeing others grow with the sport!”, exclaims Chris. Chris and Pam still enjoy heading to the crags nearly every weekend with their two children.

Steve

Since being hired part time at Upper Limits in the fall of 2016, Steve quickly started working his way up the company ranks holding a variety of positions, which prepared him for the role of Gym Manager. One of Steve’s biggest passions is adaptive climbing, where he enforces the fact that “anyone can climb!” When he’s not out seeking the next great climbing destination, Steve loves backpacking, kayaking, and mountain biking.

Andy

Assistant General Manager

Andy was born and raised in Bloomington-Normal and was introduced to climbing at Upper Limits in May 2022. The combination of problem-solving and being a great way to exercise really clicked, and he loves how the sport constantly pushes him intellectually and physically. He has an eclectic range of interests and spends his non-climbing time singing anything from opera to metal, playing all sorts of games, and converting a classic car to electric power.
He began working as Bloomington’s Assistant General Manger in November 2022 and is excited for the many adventures to come.
